Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in darkness. Electrical problem
The La Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine has once again been cut off from the power grid. This was announced by the pro-Russian occupation authorities, who stated that "due to the disconnection of the high-voltage line (...) the plant lost external power supply". The cause of the power line blockage is being investigated and an on-site backup diesel generator has been activated to ensure operation.
News of the outage was confirmed by Ukrainian energy company Energoatom, which said it was the seventh power outage since the Russian occupation. The governor of the Zaporozhye region Yuri Malashko said that "the problem is not related to the bomb attack", but a fire broke out in a building in Zaporozhye due to an overload of the electrical system.
The fighting at Bakhmut continued
The Ukrainian armed forces say fighting is continuing in Bakhmut, although Russia announced over the weekend that it had completed control of the eastern Ukrainian town. “The enemy continues to carry out offensive actions. "The battle for the town of Bakhmut continues," Kiev said, adding that in the last 24 hours Russian forces "have failed to regain lost positions south of the Ivanovsk settlement near Bakhmut."
For Russia, the F-16 transfer includes NATO
The transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine will raise questions about NATO's involvement in the conflict. This was conveyed by Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov in comments published on the embassy's Telegram channel.
Antonov also said that any Ukrainian attack on Crimea would be considered an attack on Russia. "It is important for the United States to fully recognize Russia's response," he said.
"Ukraine does not have the infrastructure to operate the F-16 and does not even have the necessary number of pilots and service personnel," Antonov said. "What if US fighter jets take off from a NATO airfield controlled by foreign 'volunteers'?" The Ambassador concluded.
