Report: More than one hundred,000 protesters protest Netanyahu’s judicial reform for thirty eighth consecutive week

More than one hundred,000 protesters took to the streets of Tel Aviv this Saturday in what is now the 38th consecutive week of protests towards the judicial reform of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.

This week the protagonist of the demonstration has been a big banner with a photograph of Netanyahu and the word “Dictator on the run”, in reference to the president’s ride to the USA, where there have also been protests towards judicial reform.

The first law of judicial reform, which strips the Supreme Court of its jurisdiction to overthrow “inappropriate” choices of the Government, was accepted on the stop of July despite the opposition on the street, which denounces a breach of the principle of department of powers. The Supreme Court is reading eight appeals against the reform.

Netanyahu gave an interview to CNN on Friday wherein he once more answered evasively to the query of whether or not he would recognize a Supreme Court choice in opposition to the reform.

“I suppose we should comply with the selections of the Supreme Court as long as they comply with the laws handed by using the Knesset,” or the Israeli Parliament, he argued.
