Tour hero Felix Gall: “It’s the biggest race within the world, that’s super”

The East Tyrolean wished a few minutes throughout the winner’s interview to get his feelings again heading in the right direction.

Felix Gall could hardly locate phrases. “It’s outstanding. I don’t recognize what to say,” he began his triumphing interview. He shook his head. “The whole yr has been first-rate. I just need to mention thanks to the group. They helped me so much,” he introduced. He drives the Tour de France for the first time. “It’s no longer easy to do a three-week tour. In the previous few days, however, I had been getting better and better.”

Slowly, however, Gall also stuck himself emotionally. The pictures of his hussar ride came back to him. First the self assurance: “Before the last climb, I did surely well. I knew that I could end way up the front, at the pace and with the values.” Then, before the finish, the hope:

“I become capable of set a first rate tempo once more at the stop. I had was hoping that the lead over Yates might slowly increase, but that wasn’t the case.” But then I had my doubts: “I became afraid that I would be stuck in the last few meters. But that didn’t manifest. I’m all the happier now.” But in the end I became relieved at what I had carried out. “A year and a 1/2 ago I couldn’t imagine that I could win a stage. It’s first rate.”

Especially considering the fact that his fulfillment in France makes him particularly glad. “It’s extremely emotional, after all it’s the Tour de France, the biggest race inside the international. And to have gained the whole lot in a French crew is even more critical due to the fact you experience even greater pressure.” The 1.Seventy eight meter tall expert cyclist from Nußdorf-Debant in East Tyrol has already won a level of the Tour de Suisse this year. His first predominant tour was the Giro d’Italia in 2022, which he finished fiftieth. The previous largest achievement of his profession dates again to 2015 when he received the Junior World Championships on the street.

He is eighth ordinary. Within the mountains classification simply one factor behind the leading Italian Ciccione. “Now I’ll technique the whole lot and spot what’s feasible.”
