Green fuel is mandatory in European airplanes soon
The sky turns green. This spring, the European Union reached a historic and ambitious agreement on the aviation sector. This will force airlines to adopt 6% biofuels and synthetic fuels – called sustainable aviation fuels (CDA) – in jet kerosene by 2030. A gradual increase secures a 70% share by 2050. "Obtained from tree leaves and algae or their (cooking oil) grease can reduce aviation's carbon footprint by 70 to 80%," Xavier Tytelman, aviation expert agrees.
